My thoughts and prayers go out to all my cousins at this great loss. I will always remember the hairy man, idiot rummy, peals of laughter… and my heart breaks. And while I am crying, the smile through my tears confirms that my cousin lived well - and has left lasting memories of happiness that are more precious than the rarest jewel. You will be missed.

Dana and family,
My prayers and sympathy are with you in this time of your loss. Allen and I started First Grade together and finished High School together in Warren. This is indeed a great loss to the community, the State, and most of all to his family. Please know that we all feel your loss. May the Peace of the Lord be with you and comfort you during the days to come.

Bishop Sam Wherry
Monticello, AR

From the Desk of Bishop Sam Wherry:
The Death of Mayor Allen Maxwell today, March 10, 2014 is a tremendous loss to the city of Monticello, Arkansas and the Southeast Region of Arkansas. Allen Maxwell was concluding one outstanding term as mayor of Monticello, Arkansas. Maxwell challenged all of us at various intervals on issues and the validity or implementation thereof, but overall he was one outstanding Mayor during one of the most fund stripped Administrative Periods in over 50 years in the United States and yet Monticello produced & productive in all arenas of Economic and Community/Education Growth and Development. Allen and I go back 15 years in Economic and Community Development during his Chief of Staff tenure with Jay Dickey and Mines as Senior Marketing Research Analyst with the Lower Mississippi Delta/Mid Delta Initiative. Because of Allen we have Industry coming and expanding, our Academic Institutions are par excellence and our City is the Flagship city of Southeast Arkansas. We all can be nothing-less than Proud and Honorable for the Life and Service rendered to/upon us by this one Giant of a Man. To Allen's Spouse and Family be assured the death or transition of your and our beloved one is not a blind alley that leads him into a state of nothingness, but an open door that leads mayor Allen Maxwell into eternal life, for loved God and his service to man/womankind no one could have did it any better. ALLEN MAXWELL

Dear Maxwell Family:

A couple of years ago, I ran into Allen at the McGehee Men's Club Oyster Supper. He picked up right where left off many years ago in Warren. Allen's charisma was a blessing to everyone he came in contact with. He was one of of those unique individuals who "lit up" any room he walked into.

Our thoughts and prayers are and will be with you. We are assured we will see Allen, Ernie, Jo Ann as well as many other friends, family and loved ones again.

Until that time,

Andy, Kim, Drew and Ridge Gibbs

Paige and family we were so sorry to hear of your loss. Please know that others are thinking about you and praying for you at this time. When my brother died recently someone sent me this. I hope it brings you comfort as it did me. A limb has fallen from the family tree. You keep hearing a voice that says, Grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song, The good life I lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don't worry about falls. I loved you all dearly, so keep up your chin, until the day comes we're together again." May God grant you comfort at this time. Mary and James
