James Michael “Mike” Russell, age 50 of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born December 19, 1963 in Dermott, AR.

He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of Oak Grove Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Michelle Ann Pruitt, grandparents, Emery and Marie Russell and Jewell Rowe; and his step-father, Thomas Williams. Mike was an avid fisherman, loved his church, witnessing to God’s people, singing and praising the Lord.

Survivors include his wife, Jeana Kent Russell of North Little Rock; one son, Michael Shane Russell and wife Kelsey of Sheridan; one daughter, Ashley Nicole Oakes and husband Matt of Florida; his mother, Clarice Caldwell and husband Harold of Monticello; his father, James Russell and wife Sherry; two step-children, Hannah Larson and Jason Larson, both of North Little Rock; one brother, Nathaniel Adam Murphy of Monticello; five sisters, Veronica Sue Russell Murphy and husband Gary of Monticello; Regina Lynn Russell Jennings and husband Kenneth Lynn of Bigelow, Rachelle Mann and husband Greg of Monticello, Lena Rawls and husband Shannon of Lake Village and Jamie Ladd of Lake Village; one grandchild, Autumn LeiAnn Russell, numerous nieces and nephews.
