Garel Lee "Mac" McKiever 69 of Monticello, AR passed from this life Friday, April 14, 2017 at Christus St Michaels Medical Center in Texarkana TX. He was born June 19, 1947 in Drew County Arkansas.

He was the middle son of D.L. & Ancy Mae (Burch) McKiever. He was partners in the family business McKiever Packing Company which operated with his parents and two brothers for 60 plus years and is still in operation. Garel affectionately known as "Pop Mac" was an avid cattleman and loved attending many weekly auctions and Registered Angus Specialty sells. His greatest joy was attending rodeos and various athletic competitions his children and grandchildren were involved in, he was always cheering and encouraging loud as possible. Mac was a 1965 Graduate of Drew Central Schools, he received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Agricultural Business class of 1970 at Arkansas A&M currently known as The University of Arkansas @ Monticello, and was a member of the Theta XI Fraternity. He is a long time member of Prairie Grove Baptist church and on January 15, 2017 he rededicated his life at Mountain View Baptist Church where he enjoyed attending with his very special friend Carolyn.

Garel was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 30 years Betty Wylie McKiever, his parents D.L. & Ancy Mae (Burch) McKiever and a grandson McKiever Lee Burchett. He is survived by a son Bret Lee McKiever (Alidya) of Lockesburg AR., a daughter Stacy Lee McKiever Janes (Brandon) of DeQueen; two brothers, Donald McKiever and wife Tona of Monticello and Dale (Bimbo) McKiever of the Prairie Grove community; 6 grandchildren Breannah Linely, Mayson McKiever, Carson McKiever, Tori Janes, Braylee Janes, & Bryndle Janes. He also leaves behind a very special and caring companion Carolyn McKinney and her children and grandchildren who held a very special place in his heart.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Visitation 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, April 18, 2017 at the funeral home. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
