Jimmie H Hart
January 2, 1931 - October 3, 2018

Jimmie H. Hart, 87, of Fayetteville, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday October 3, 2018 at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born January 2, 1931, the first baby of the new year born in Hempstead County, to James Alexander Horn and Francis Elizabeth McKnight Horn.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Bernard E. Hart, Jr., her sister Essie Copeland and her brother, Carroll Horn.

“Miss Jimmie”, as she was known to many, lived a life of devotion to her family, her faith and her friends. An avid Razorback fan since 1946, she followed University of Arkansas sports with unbridled passion. She was a member of the Pea Ridge United Methodist Church.

Jimmie loved Southern cooking and sharing it with others. Her fried pies were legendary at community and church events. She was known for her quick wit, sense of humor and storytelling skills that were a constant source of entertainment for family and friends.

One of her most special attributes was the countless acts of kindness she provided – never forgetting a birthday, small gifts for those typically underappreciated at the holidays, support for someone in need – that mean so much and cost little.
In association with the Dorcas Group of Bentonville United Methodist Church, she crocheted hundreds of baby sweaters over the years to serve newborns and families in Northwest Arkansas. She often delighted friends expecting babies and grandbabies with heirloom-quality crocheted baby blankets.

Prior to kindergarten becoming part of the Arkansas public school system, Jimmie taught kindergarten at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
She is survived by a son Bernard "Bert" Ellis Hart, III of Rockwall, Texas, and his wife Jennifer; a daughter Elizabeth Kay Hart of Fayetteville; two grandchildren Benjamin Ellis Hart of Fayetteville and Leah Elizabeth Hart of Rockwall, Texas and treasured cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 6 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello, Ark., with the services beginning at 11 a.m., Reverend Hammett Evans officiating.
