James Durwood “Dub” Cruce, age 78, of the Prairie Grove Community passed away Monday, June 10 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. He was born September 7, 1934 to the late Jay and Rita Maude Bowden Cruce.
He was a retired logging contractor and a member of the Prairie Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Cruce loved his work along with working with his cows. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Buster Cruce; a sister, Leatha Cruce Howell; a niece, Claudie Ann Cruce Sparks; and a nephew, Glen Edward Burnett.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sara Emma Kinnaird Cruce of the Prairie Grove Community; a son, James Durwood Cruce, Jr. (Bonnie) of Monticello; two daughters, Rita Sue Cruce Rawls (Dago Allen) of Crossett and Sandy Kay Cruce West (Bobby) of the Prairie Grove Community; two sisters, Helen Cruce Burnett of Monticello and Bertha Cruce Bolin of Fountain Hill; his extended siblings, Billie Jean Doles of Bonita, LA, Rachel Summerland, Faye Hunter and Ann Austin all of Hamburg; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
