Claude Hancock, Jr. age 88 of Monticello, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born June 7, 1926 in Maulden, MO to the late Claude Hancock, Sr. and Edith Matthews Hancock.
He was a World War II United States Navy veteran, a retired forester with International Paper Company, and was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He was a fox hunter, loved gardening and working in his yard where he raised flowers of all kinds. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Wright Hancock of Monticello; one son, Mark Hancock and wife Sandra of Monticello; two daughters, Linda Devine and husband Eugene and Lisa Pennington all of Monticello; one brother, Billy Joe Hancock of Monticello; nine grandchildren, Amy Sikes and Matthew Devine, Lindsey Hancock, Kacie Cingolani, Holly Hancock, Sydney Pennington, Jaci Pennington, Tana Neathery and Ryan Williams; three great-grandchildren, Lola, Kadince and Sophie; and an expectant great-grandson, Dean.
