Harchel Barnett, age 88 of Monticello, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Belleview Estates Nursing & Rehab in Monticello. He was born December 11, 1927 in Drew County to the late Johnny Barnett and Clara Bell Simpson Barnett.

He was a retired logger and of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Ozment and Nig Harbor and one granddaughter, Melissa Barnett.

Survivors include two sons, David Barnett, Sr. of Monticello and Allen Cunningham of Texas; three grandchildren, David Barnett, Jr., Keena West and Althea Barnett, all of Monticello; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
