Jack Dye, Jr.
January 1, 1942 - January 27, 2016

Jack Dye, Jr. was born on January 1, 1942 to the late Jack Dye, Sr. and Pauline Dye in Cascilla, Mississippi. He was the 4th of eight children. Jack grew up in Mississippi farming in which he learned the value of hard work and family.

Jack moved to Crossett, Arkansas where he was employed at Georgia Pacific Plywood and retired there as press machine operator. Jack loved baseball so much that he taught two of his sons about the game. One son said, “I would spend Sundays after church with Dad watching double hitter pro baseball games while dad would tell me ways I could be a better baseball player.” Jack loved eating honeybuns, and passed the taste of honeybuns on to his youngest son whom the neighborhood nicknamed “Honey Bun.”

Jack loved listening to the Blues, playing his guitar, fishing, watching westerns and professional baseball. Some of Jack’s favorite foods were Spam, mustard greens, catfish, cornbread, cookies and Honey Buns.

In addition to his parent’s he was preceded in death by his wife, Ella P. Johnson; one sister, Earleah (Price) Robertson; one brother, Frankie Dye.

He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Larry (Sherri) Dye of Yakima, WA; two step-sons, Frank (Darlene) Johnson of Monticello and Arthur (Linda) Johnson of Jacksonville; three sisters, Lizzie Swearengen and Katherine McGregor both of Minneapolis, MN and Thelma Gordon of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Roosevelt (Barb) Dye of Chicago, IL and Ben (Crystal) Dye of Minneapolis, MN; four aunts, Katherine Ballard of Charleston, MS, Willie Maye Dye, Lena Polk and Annie Jones all of Chicago, IL; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
