Alverne Smith Cruce
March 28, 1941 - July 17, 2016

Annie Alverne Cruce was born March 28, 1941 in Monticello Arkansas. She went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, July 17, 2016, in the presence of her husband Pistol of 58 years, whom she loved dearly and supported through their 58 years together. Their marriage is a testament of what God’s intention was for marriage. Her family is comforted in the fact that she had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in which she lived out every day of her life, and that we will see her again one day in Glory. She was an active member of First Baptist Church. She was employed at Walmart for 23 years and friend to everyone she met. She was an avid deer hunter in which she spent countless hours with her family hunting and fellowshipping with at the deer camp. She enjoyed spending time with her husband in all aspects of life.

She loved what an incredible beauty God created. She would have Pistol drive her countless miles in the afternoon taking in the splendor of a God painted sunset. They were truly best friends. She loved her children, but her 10 grandchildren were the joy of her life. Her grandsons thought she was the world’s best cook and that she could mend anything in the world for them. She was a caring lady, not just towards her family but to all whom she came in contact with. Her children and grandchildren referred to her as “Grandmom”, as well as their friends and many other people she knew. She held her 19 great grandchildren dear to her heart. She loved to brag and talk about each one of them. She will be missed by her family, as she was a constant example of what we all should be, by showing unconditional love. Her soul is the Lord’s, her heart was her husbands, and her life was her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Anne Cruce; her parents, Albert Smith and Velma Smith; her brother, Carrol Smith; and her sister Esther Grieff. Survivors include her husband R.E. “Pistol” Cruce of Monticello; one brother, Paul Smith and wife Louisa of Monticello; one sister Guylene Easley of Des Arc; two sons, James Randall “Randy” Cruce and wife Angie of Montongo and Reuel Edward “Eddie” Cruce Sr. and wife Carol of Monticello; two daughters, Paula Kay Lane and husband Scott of Monticello and Kaija Kemppi of Helsinki, Finland; her grandchildren, Reuel Cruce Jr., Daniel Lane, Allison Birch, Brandon Cruce, Caleb Lane, Benjamin Cruce, Micah Lane, Jessica Peterson, Luke Lane , and McKenzie James as well as their spouses; and 19 great grandchildren. Also her friends. She cherished each one of you. She had so many people whom she loved and so many who loved her.
