Welcome

I am a Veteran.Doyle Ladane Rodgers
March 15, 1939 - January 31, 2017

Doyle Ladane Rodgers was born on March 15, 1939, to the union of Delton Doyle and Winnie Jones Rodgers in Monticello, AR. He passed away on January 31, 2017 at the age of 77 at home surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Posey Rodgers; two sons, Tim Rodgers of Fordyce and Tony (Mary) Rodgers of Monticello; one daughter, Mitzi (Chip) Murray of West Monroe, LA; twelve grandchildren, Brandi (Bobby) Kellett, Leigh Rodgers, Delton Rodgers, Lindy (Cody) Williams, Ladd (Emily) Rodgers, Jared (Haley) Rodgers, Alex Rodgers, Caleb Rodgers, Job Rodgers, Katie Osborn, Kelsey Murray and John Murray; three great-grandchildren, Jaden Rodgers, Baylee Kellett and Warren Rodgers; and one sister, Arleta Carter (Bobby) of Monticello.

Mr. Rodgers was an Army veteran having served twelve years active duty in Hawaii, Okinawa, Germany, Alabama and Georgia. He also served two tours in Vietnam, only ending his active duty when he had to choose between being there to raise his growing family or returning to Vietnam for a third tour. He chose his family. He completed his military career with thirteen years in the National Guard. Upon completion of his active duty service, he returned home to Monticello where he owned and operated D.L. Rodgers Grocery for seventeen years. He was also a part-time rural mail carrier during his time. Upon the sale of the store, he became a full-time carrier completing a twenty year career with the U.S. Postal Service.
His greatest accomplishment was getting to be the Christian example for his family to follow that led to all of his children, grandchildren and his mother salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Clements, Rev. Buddy Lemons and Rev. James Taylor officiating.
