Harry Linn Chambers, Sr.
February 26, 1932 - March 22, 2017

Harry Linn Chambers, Sr., 85, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at his home in Cypress, TX.
Harry was born in Edgemont, Arkansas on February 26, 1932 to the late Sylvia Yetive Linn Chambers and Robert Harrison Chambers.
In his early years growing up on a farm, Harry liked to hunt, fish, bareback ride and play sports. He enjoyed school and graduated from Louisiana State University in 1955. He met his wife Mary Joan Ourso Chambers while in school and they were married in Plaquemine, LA, June 23, 1956.
Harry had a successful career in the restaurant industry. After college Harry worked for the Toddle House in Beaumont. They then moved to St. Louis, MO, Kansas City, MO and San Antonio, TX with the Toddle House. Harry left the Toddle House and founded The Kettle Restaurants with his brother Danny, which operated from 1968 to 1995. He not only took pride in his business, but truly appreciated the friendships he made with his employees and business partners. Over the years, he also served on many boards of directors throughout his Houston years. In his free time he enjoyed working in his garden, fishing and hunting.
As a man who operated in bulk, from purchasing, to his positive attitude, kindness and generosity; He sure did acquire a ton of love in this life. He always had to be working and was writing a book on maintaining a positive outlook on life and applying it to your everyday life and business to accomplish your goals until the day he died. His advice to loved ones: “Apply yourself to the best of your ability. Understand other people. Understand their needs, desires, opinions and beliefs.” – Harry Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Joan Ourso Chambers; along with four children; Beth and Flay Armstrong, Harry and Tammy Chambers, Brenda and Mark Carter, and Rene and Ray Rosenstrauch; 10 grandchildren, Allison and Garret Dumoit, Ken Hooper, Chaselinn Chambers, Carson Chambers, Cole Chambers, Alan Carter, Jonathan Carter, Mary Carter, Kayla Rosenstrauch and Nicole Rosenstrauch; 2 great-grandchildren Addison and Sydney Dumoit; 7 siblings, Betty Joe Stafford, Evelyn McKeown, Danny Chambers, Margie Irbe, Nettie Jean Scarzafava, Glenda Scogin and David Chambers; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack Chambers.
