Jimmy David McWhorter
December 3, 1946 - November 16, 2017

Jimmy David McWhorter, age 70 of Star City passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at his home in Star City. He was born on December 3, 1946 to the late Howard Fred McWhorter and Lula Virginia Burns McWhorter.

He was a retired supervisor for Anthony Timberlands and a member of Yorktown Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Fred McWhorter and a daughter, Teresa Renee McWhorter.

Jimmy went to work straight out of high school drilling water wells with his father. He then moved on to work at Wilson Lumber Company in Monticello as a sawyer, from there he worked at Ray White Lumber Co. in Sparkman as a foreman. He then went to work at Anthony Timberlands in Bernie as a supervisor where he retired. His true love was hunting, fishing and spending time working on the farm and looking at the cows.

He is survived by his wife, Markaleta Marie Knobloch McWhorter; his daughters, Cindy Marie Launius and husband Billy of Sparkman and Barbara Ann Holstead and husband Bill of Star City; his son, Mark David McWhorter of Star City; a sister, Linda Butler of Star City; grandchildren, Ashley Nowlin and husband David of Sparkman, Cecilia Berry and husband Michael of Sparkman and Beau Henry of Sparkman, Verna Harris and husband Jason and Gary Hosted and wife Becky all of Star City, Patrick Hosted and wife Sharon of Benton; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Cole Nowlin, Kesley and Chloe Berry, Kinsley Henry, Traylor Trantham, Bradley Trantham and wife Stephanie, Leigha and Misty Frey and Jackson Holsted; great-great-grandchildren, Chase and Adrain Trantham, Kaiegha and Baieghi Cook.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 at First Baptist Yorktown with Rev. Robert Green and Rev. Jacob Ricker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Yorktown. Arrangements by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral home. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
