L.F. Garrison, age 91, of Little Rock, a former resident of Monticello, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Presbyterian Village in Little Rock. The son of the late Loney Fayton Garrison and Sarah Ethelyn Buckland Garrison, he was born July 20, 1920 in Helena, AR. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Ruth Garrison.
Mr. Garrison was a retired social worker and Employment Security Division counselor, a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello where he served as Deacon and Gideon, member of the National Association of Social Workers / Arkansas Chapter and was a disabled U.S. Army Aircorp veteran of World War II where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Garrison and wife Mary Lynn of Shreveport, LA, Steven Garrison and wife Melonie of Searcy and Ed Garrison and wife Caroline of Greenbrier; two daughters, Judy G. Mattox and husband Michael of Little Rock and Kathy G. Smith and husband Mark of McRae; one brother, Douglas Garrison of Whitehaven, TN; two sisters, Virginia Lee Walden of Killen, AL and Suzanne Lee of West Memphis; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
