I am a Veteran.Harold Palmer
October 22, 1922 - July 5, 2013

James “Harold” Palmer, 90, of Monticello, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013 at Drew Memorial Hospital. He was born October 22, 1922 in Drew County.

He was a retired machinist for Burlington Industries, a U. S. Army Veteran of WW II, serving in the South Pacific, a 32nd degree Mason, belonging to the local lodge, a Deacon and member of Second Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Charlie A. Palmer and Lona Freeman Palmer and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Raye Dover Palmer, eight brothers, Roy Palmer, Richard “Dick” Palmer, twins, Tony and Teddy Palmer, Jerry Palmer, J. D. Palmer, Freeman Palmer and Donald Palmer; four sisters, Mary Priest, Edna Berryman, Juanita Gibson and Lorene Pierce; and son-in-law, T. O. Miller.

Harold enjoyed traveling and camping with The Good Sam’s Club. He was a very loving husband, father, Popy and Pop.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Barnett Palmer of Monticello; one son, James “J. R.” Palmer of Woodlawn; one daughter, Rachel Barnett Miller of Bryant; one brother, Jimmy Palmer and wife, Sammie, of Greenbrier; one sister, Anna Jo “Jody” Rash of Monticello; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Palmer of Warren; two granddaughters, Jennifer Winkelpleck and husband, Brian, of Almyra and Kim Miller Mashburn and husband, Dennis, of Little Rock; one grandson, Marty Miller of Chicago, IL; four great-grands, Emma Grace and Josie Raye Winkelpleck and Tyler and Danielle Mashburn and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
