James D. “Jimmy” Carter, age 60 of Monticello passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at his home. He was born September 30, 1953 the son of the late J.D. Carter and Katherine Carter.

He worked as a security guard at War Eagle Boats and was a Presbyterian. He graduated from Arkansas A & M (UAM) with a BS in English, worked many years at the Drew County Regional Library and UAM Library. He enjoyed reading and being at home on the farm working with his cows.

Survivors include two sisters, Pattie Carter Lack and husband Johnny of Lake Village and Gail Carter Hyatt and husband David T. Hyatt, Jr. of Monticello; two nephews, Carter Lack and Susan and John Troy Lack and Ellie all of Hattiesburg, MS; two nieces, Jaye Jones and Larry of Monticello and Johna Peyton of Leland, MS, five great nieces and nephews, numerous other relatives and friends.

Private memorial service will held at a later date.
