Homer Hagin Shirey
October 8, 1944 - January 24, 2022

Homer Hagin Shirey, age 77 of Monticello, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at his home. He was born October 8, 1944, in Monticello, Arkansas to the late Hollis Shirey and Maxine Myhand Shirey. Homer retired as a Draftsman/General Contractor, member of Rose Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He loved carpentry and wood working, was an avid lover of vintage cars and Coca-Cola memorabilia.

Homer is survived by his partner, Cheryl Shirey of over 40 years and mother of his children of Monticello, two daughters, Dona Buie (Mike) of Sheridan and Hollie Bolling (William) of Monticello; two sons, J.R. Shirey ( Michelle) of Tepeka, KS and Chris Shirey (Kimberly) of El Dorado; a sister-in-law that was like a daughter, Michelle Bailey; two brothers, Raymond Shirey (Rita) of Star City and David Shirey of Sebring, FL; six grandchildren, Dylan Smith (Lauri), Jaycee Gordon, Lindsey Buie, Alaina Shirey, Elizabeth Gonzales (Mateo) and Sheylee Tanner (Dylan); three great grandchildren, Mateo, Matias and Byron Gonzalez; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Stephenson Dearman Chapel. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in Rose Hill Cemetery in Monticello.
