Mary Jo Taylor Haynes
December 17, 1933 - May 2, 2022

Mary Jo Taylor Haynes was born on December 17, 1933, in Hazen, AR, to the late Johnny B. Taylor and Lou Della Horton Taylor. She went to be in the loving hands of her Lord on May 2, 2022. She later moved with her family to Detroit, Michigan, where she excelled in her schoolwork Highland Park High School and was a majorette in the marching band. On July 5, 1952, Mary Jo married Bill J. Haynes from Hazen, AR, her husband of almost 70 years.
Mary Jo took great pride in her family and home. Mary Jo and Bill lived in Carlisle, Newport, Poplar Bluff, MO, and Pocahontas, AR until Bill accepted a transfer to Monticello in 1970. Always, Mary Jo settled their home and kept it a quiet, loving sanctuary for her husband and sons. Her passion was studying the Bible to learn more about Jesus, her Savior and Lord, and subsequently, leading her sons to their salvation. Mary Jo was a quiet, dignified lady, never uttering a complaint about anything, yet, always striving to make everything better.
Preceding Mary Jo in death were her parents, an infant daughter Terry Gayle, a son David Blake, and her sister Julia Sample Hart. She leaves to cherish her memory husband, Bill Haynes of Monticello, son Larry J. Haynes (Polly) of Andover, Kansas, grandsons Joseph and Paul (Ali) of Lenexa, KS, Mark (Yvette) of Andover, KS and her true pride and joy, granddaughter Amanda Bowers (John) of Saginaw, TX. Mary Jo leaves six great-grandchildren: Will, Henry, Wyatt, Tannie, and Kevin Haynes and Hudson Bowers. Another great grandchild is due in December.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. There will be a visitation one hour preceding the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. You can sign Mary Jo's guestbook page at www.stephensondearman.com.
