Barren Cotton
January 24, 1971 - December 30, 2025
Brother Barren Cotton was born on January 24, 1971, in Dumas, AR to Reverend LeVorn Cotton and Mrs. Judy Cotton. On December 30, 2025, Barren peacefully departed this life at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR and went home to be with the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his father, Reverend LeVorn Cotton; Paternal grandfather and grandmotherâ€" Brother Savon Cotton and Sister Patsy Patterson and Maternal grandfather and grandmother, Brother Emanuel Page and Sister Francis Page.
Barren received his early education from BC Prewitt Elementary School in Tillar, AR and transferred to the Dumas School District. He was a member of the graduating class of 1990.
Barren loved farming and driving big rigs! He was employed by Steven and Dustin Day Farm. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time at the North Cedar Hunting Club around the guys, sharing stories and receiving advice. Even in the midst of fun, he gathered positive encouragement from each of them which left a lasting impact on his life. Those moments reflected the joy he found simply by being with the people he loved.
Barren confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jesse Courtney and later united with the Saint Peter's Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas, AR under the leadership of Reverend Larry D. Alexander. While at Saint Peter's Rock, he was a Sunday School student in the Adult Men's Class and was devoted to all services within the church until his health failed.
Barren's life was filled with love, warmth, and meaning. He truly loved his family, spending time with them, his friends and especially his son, Darrion! He was known for his giving and caring heart. He showed compassion for others and brought comfort and light to those around him. His life, though short, touched many and will forever be cherished.
Barren leaves behind a legacy of love and precious memories that will remain in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his mother, Mrs. Judy Cotton of Winchester, AR, a son, Darrion Cotton of Tillar, AR, a brother, Shannon Cotton of Milwaukee, WI and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, family and friends!
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at St. Peter's Rock Church in Dumas, AR with Rev. Larry Alexander officiating. There will be a Wake from 4:00-5:30 p.m. Friday evening at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Light Cemetery. You can sign Barren's guestbook registry here on his page.
