Virginia Louise Reed Hurley
May 26, 1933 - April 24, 2026
Virginia Louise Hurley, age 92, of Monticello, Arkansas, passed away on April 24, 2026. She was born and raised in Monticello. For many years, she worked at the Burlington rug mill before retiring. Upon retirement, she dedicated her time to caring for her grandchildren and later her great-great-niece and nephew. Her years babysitting led her grandchildren to nickname her "Nanny." While she was known by many names to those who loved her, such as Sissy, Monroe, Auntie, and Luci, calling her Virginia was asking for trouble.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Berman and Mary Reed; her beloved son, Lloyd Anthony Hurley; and her siblings: James Robert, Eunice Mae, Berman Lee ''Pokey,'' George, William Earl ''Buddy,'' and Charles Howard. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of
family and is survived by her devoted daughters, Brenda Meyer and Marie (Tommy) Austin, both of Monticello. Her memory will be lovingly carried on by her grandchildren: Jared Meyer, Manda (Micheal) Leftwich-Tharp, Megan Siegler, Dereck (Amanda) Leftwich, TJ Austin,
Joseph Hurley, Abbey Smith, and Dylan Snuffer, as well as her nine great-grandchildren: Ian, Sarah, Adain, Gavin, Lynnox, Madelyn, Noah, Jarett, and Baby Smith (expected in December), and a host of favorite nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Louise's life will be held at Rose Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Monticello, Arkansas, on Saturday May 16th at 2:00 pm.
