Betty Jo Martin McGuire
April 3, 1934 - June 1, 2026

Betty Jo Martin McGuire, age 92, passed away Monday, June 1st, 2026, at Pegasus Landing of Round Rock, Texas. She was born April 3rd, 1934, in Vardaman, MS to the late Randolf Martin and Loretta Castelman Martin.

After Betty graduated from Batesville High School in 1952, she worked at Pennaco Hosiery, a manufacturing company in Grenada, MS as a secretary. In October 1956 she met Louis McGuire while he travelled for Southland Tractor. They were married April 7th, 1957, in Grenada. Louis and Betty moved to Monticello from Jackson, Mississippi, November 23rd, 1960. While living in Monticello Betty joined the Women''™s club, served as the secretary of the Drew County fair and was the Welcome Wagon hostess for several years. Her hobbies included writing, singing, crocheting, and sewing. She served beside her husband Louis while he was an elder in the Monticello Church of Christ from 1966-2009 teaching Sunday School classes, singing with the church at every opportunity and was known for her hospitality. December 2024 Betty moved to Austin Texas to be closer to her daughter.

Betty is preceded in death by Louis McGuire her husband, her brother James Martin, her sisters Carolyn Dreher, Danna Thompson, Patricia Nerren, and Myrna Martin. She is survived by her daughter Tamra and her husband, Glen of Lago Vista, TX and granddaughters Meara (Tyson) and Shanley and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Monticello Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
