Ollie Leon Simpson Carter
February 22, 1943 - June 2, 2026
Ollie Leon Simpson Carter, age 83 of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Baptist Spring Hill Hospital in North Little Rock. She was born February 22, 1943, in Dermott, AR to the late Hollander Simpson and Erler Mae Barnett Simpson Langston.
She was the widow of Glenn Steven Carter, a retired Burlington Industries employee and a Baptist. Mrs. Ollie loved reading, cooking, scrolling through Facebook but, her greatest love was spending time with her family. She loved them all very much! She also loved having family get-togethers where she cook for them. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Woody Earl Simpson, James Edgar Simpson and Clyde Franklin Simpson; a nephew, Clyde Franklin Simpson, Jr.; and two great grandchildren, Katie Forrest and Layton Forrest.
She is survived by two children, Rebecca Lynn Carter Knight of Monticello and Joseph Michael Carter and wife Heather of Monticello; two brothers, Melvin Simpson and wife Catherine of McGehee and Henry Simpsn and wife Shelia of Monticello; two granddaughters, Caley Forrest and husband Michael and Sammy Hickam and husband Hunter; three great grandchildren, Konnor Forrest, Cayson Forrest and Kynlee Davis; a special great niece who was like a grandchild, Tonya Palmer Fussell and husband Jake; two brothers-in-law, Jack Carter and wife Jill of Louisiana and Gene Carter and wife Bettie of Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2026, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. There will be a visitation Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rash Cemetery.
The family will be gathering at the Henry Simpson residence on 439 S. Edwards Street in Monticello.
