James Edward Brown
May 7, 1942 - June 27, 2026

James Edward Brown, age 84 of Monticello, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, June 27, 2026, at his home. He was born May 7, 1942, in Possum Valley, AR to the late James Andrew ''Jim'' Brown and Idell Gertrude Doss Brown.

He was a retired welder but also worked some for Burlington Industries, Dura Craft and SeaArk Boats and also taught welding at Monticello Schools. James enjoyed fishing, camping, watching Fox News where he could debate politics with everyone but, his greatest passion was spending time with his family. He was of the Assembly of God faith and loved reading his Bible and quoting scripture. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Fern Brown; a daughter, Sherry Brown; two brothers, Lavon Brown and Willie Earl Brown; and a great granddaughter, Mackenzie Lee Asarisi.

Survivors include his grandchildren, Magen Polk and husband Brandon of Monticello, Joshua Strickland of Phoenix, AZ; great grandchildren, Connor Asarisi, Jayden Strickland, Makayla Polk, EmberLynn Strickland, Braydon Polk, Keison McCree; and a special niece, Rhonda Fore.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2026, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Rodney Thompson officiating. There will be a visitation Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Valley Cemetery. The family would like to issue a special thank you to Hospice Home Care for the special care they gave James.
