Paul Douglas Shipman

Paul Douglas Shipman, 89, of Como, MS, passed away peacefully at his residence on September 7, 2026.
Paul found great joy in being involved in his community. He proudly served as chairman of the Panola County Neighborhood Watch and looked forward to his monthly dominoes group and daily coffee club gatherings at Mike''™s. He also enjoyed his annual trips to Oaklawn Race Track. He was married to Melba, the love of his life, for 63 years. He was a loving caregiver to her as she battled Parkinson's disease for over 20 years.
For most of his working career, he was a sales representative for Motorola. Later he and Melba owned their own business: S&L Communications and S&L Towers. Paul loved hunting and fishing and took great pride in gardening, especially growing fruit trees. Paul was also a devoted Arkansas Razorback fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Shipman Jordan (Bobby); sons, Steven Douglas Shipman and Scott Allen Shipman (Adrian); grandchildren, Lindsey Shipman Ashcraft (Brent), Cody Douglas Shipman, Bella Scott Shipman, Paul Wells Shipman, Taylor Ann Bunger (Derek) and Benjamin Douglas Jordan; great grandchildren, Amelia Jean Bunger, Beau Allen Bunger, Riggs Michael Ashcraft and Christopher Rowan Ashcraft and special friend, Liz Hawkins Burt.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Agee Shipman; parents, Leo and Merle Shipman; sister, Robbie Lee Stephenson and brother, John Will Shipman.
Paul was a long-time member of Como Baptist Church and most recently an active member of Senatobia First Baptist Church. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2026, at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia, MS. There will be a visitation one hour preceding the funeral service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Graveside service with military honors will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Lacey Cemetery.
