Marquis attended Wilmar Pre-K and Drew Central Elementary and High Schools. As a student at Drew Central, he played basketball and football. He had a love for dogs, especially his dog he lovingly called "Red-Man."
Even though he was young, Marquis was never afraid of hard work. He worked with his Uncle Rod in the logging industry as well as the city of Wilmar. He was currently employed at Drew Central School District as a paraprofessional, and also worked part-time at McDonald's in Monticello. Marquis had a love for children he worked with as well as the children in the community of Wilmar, whom he would look out for, making sure they were safe in the mornings as they waited to catch the school bus. To many of the younger children, he was lovingly called "Uncle Mack."
He was a young dad, but a good father. He enjoyed fatherhood, and he jokingly complained about the price of pampers. His son MJ was the love of his life.
Marquis social media pictures of he and his son are priceless as they convey a love story of a father and son.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Charles Martin, Sr., his great-great grandmother, Ruby Rayford Darrough, and his great-grandfather, Robert (Marie) Arrington.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Marquis Dareun (MJ), his mother, Lakisha Arrington of Little Rock, his father, Jeffrey J. Jackson of Angie, Louisiana, his great-grandmother, Ann Martin of Wilmar, his grandmother, Daphna (Louis) Wilkins of Little Rock, his sister, LaTiya Davis of Little Rock, his brother, Imani Riley of Monticello, VeShunda McGhee, Aden Jackson, of Angie, LA, his great aunts, Marilyn (U.S.) Reed of Maumelle, Lisa (Ulysses) Edwards of Monticello, AR, Marilyn Trotter of Monticello, AR, his great uncles, Herbert Rayford of Little Rock, AR and Robert (Gwen) Arrington of Monticello, AR, a special Uncle Rod (Tonya) of Wilmar, AR, his god-brother, Lekevious Kilpatrick of McGehee, AR. uncles Tyrone McGowen (Tyeshia) of Angie, LA, Antonio Robertson of Monticello, AR, Jodie Franklin Arrington of Fayetteville, AR, aunts Rashunda (Brent) Bates of Gordan, KS, and Shivetta Robertson of Monticello, AR.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2020 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Wilmar Cemetery. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.

Monticello, AR Monday, March 16, 2020 My heart goes out to the family for their loss of this young man. It was quite obvious he was well loved by the community and where he worked. The children especially loved him for his attention and concern for their well being. I am saddened that a person that from all I have seen and heard, is trying to better himself and be a role model for the young eyes that see him on a daily basis. It is my prayer the answers you seek are soon answered and should there be foul play involved that the individual(s) are punished to the fullest extent of the law. I hate hearing about anyone’s passing....but it saddens me even more when it is someone who was trying to their part in the world and help others. May God help you with your pain and loss during this time. And may Marquis’ actions in life bring about a positive future for the ones fortunate enough to know him. I will continue to pray for all, especially family and the children he worked with, who I am certain miss him very much.Shawanna brown

Monticello, AR Thursday, March 12, 2020 Marquis was a sweet, caring, very giving , and loving person. I witnessed it everyday! He always had a smile on his face with kind words for everyone. In October, Marquis and I had a very important conversation. I asked him if he knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He assured me that he did and that he would spend eternity in heaven. I'm so thankful that he had that assurance and that I know and will see him again one day.
He is truly missed! My prayers are with the family!

, FL Tuesday, March 10, 2020 They say the good leave us too soon and that could not be true in this case. Marquis was sincerely kind-hearted, and a truly great friend to myself and so many others. During my years in Monticello, Marquis was my dearest friend. I will always cherish the many memories of the happy times we spent together. Whether we were working together at UAM, fishing, or just hanging out, his smile and positivity brought light to my life and all those around him. Six years after leaving Arkansas, Marquis still continued to be one of my closest friends, always keeping in touch, encouraging the best in me.The world has lost such a wonderful, joyous person, as all of us have lost a sweet and caring friend. People like Marquis do not come around in life too often, he was a man with a special soul, a soul that lives on in each and everyone who knew and loved him.
Many prayers for Marquis' family and little MJ.

Monticello, AR Tuesday, March 10, 2020 It breaks my heart that he's gone. I was praying for him and his family while he was missing. Then to find out he was killed... I can't focus on anything anymore.Death from diseases, accidents, and natural causes are easier to work through. Suicides and homicides are difficult to process through. We question why, but we never have an understanding.
Marquis (Mack) was a good friend, probably my best friend. I looked to him as a brother. I cared about him like I did my brother. Marquis watched out for me at work. He knew more of what I was going through and made sure I was okay every time I was spaced out, not paying any attention to anyone or anything. He was the only one at work that believed me about what other male coworkers were doing. So, he watched out for that too. He was a people person. He could talk with anyone like he never met a stranger. He did anything he could to ease tension.
He was a good young man. Always seemed happy. I'm going to miss him greatly. There's no words to accurately express how I feel. I've cried myself to sleep for the last week and I can't imagine how his family is processing through this tragic time. I am continuing to pray for his family, especially his son as he grows up.
I make this post to show my condolences to other friends of his and his family. I will not be able to attend services, as I have surgery.
Stephanie Stewart
