Billy George West, age 83, of Monticello, Arkansas, passed away, Sunday, November 14, 2021, at his daughter's home in Grapevine, Arkansas. He was born December 27, 1937, in Baxter, Arkansas to the late Elbert M. West and Hester Lee Davis West. He was a graduate of Monticello High School Class of 1955. He worked at the Arkansas Baptist Children's Home as a house parent and a truck driver as he was beginning his career as a pastor. During his sixty-plus years in the ministry, he pastored seventeen churches. During his ministry, he also worked doing general contracting work. He enjoyed the outdoors, going to the deer camp, camping, gardening, hunting, and most of all spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Frances Jean West; his parents; two sisters, Maxine Elizabeth West and Lillian Estella West; two brothers, Elbert Melvin West, Jr. and Donnie Fred West, Sr.; one granddaughter, Melissa Ann West; and one daughter-in-law, Pamelia Diane West.

Billy is survived by his son, Billy Gene West of Sunnyvale, TX; three daughters, Ruby Ayers of Hope, AR, LaWanda Mounts and husband Joey of Ozark, AR, and Lillian Thompson and husband Jeff of Grapevine, AR. He was lovingly called Papaw and Pappie by his 19 grandchildren; Penny Brown, Michelle (Jeff) Clendenen, John Northcut, Adam (Julie) West, Brooke (Tyler) Butler, Justin (Regina) Thompson, Joseph (Lizzie) Moring, Tim (Lydia) Mounts, Jason (Hope) Thompson, Jonathan (Shyana) Mounts, Lauren (Jonathan) Stubbs, Matthew (Skylar) Mounts, Faith (Louis) Koch, Natalie Mounts, Sarah Mounts, Eden Mounts, Angelica Mounts, and Bethany Mounts; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren, Blake, Alex, Colby, Katie, Jacob, Britney, Ashlynn, Bella, Drew, Levi, Alexandria, Maddie, Gideon, Dakota, Annabelle, Kenleigh, Emma, Rugbie, Hunter-Beth, Arrow, Raydon, Titus, Sophia, Eddie, Hannah, Elijah, and MillieAnn; and two great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Celebration of Life Ceremony will be Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Monticello, Arkansas. Family graveside burial will be in Oakland Cemetery prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Baptist Children's Home.

    Billy leaves behind a beautiful family. It is always a gift to be with you all and watch the love between you. Art and I are sorry to miss being there to celebrate of Billy's life and the love he leaves in you all. We are out of town the week of Thanksgiving.
