John Alvin Simmons

John Alvin Simmons, age 62 of Monticello, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born July 14, 1959, in Crossett, AR to the late Gradie Wines Simmons and Melvin J. Simmons, Sr., whose biological father was the late Alvin Blakey. He received his education in the Crossett School District.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Clint W. Wines and Estella Colvin Wines of Farmerville, LA, and Charlie and Annie Simmons of Wilmar, AR; two sisters, Janice Belinda Allen and Mary Ann Allen; three brothers, Mavis J. Simmons, Melvin J. Simmons, Jr., and Robert Allen all of Monticello; one niece, Tyronza Patrice Marshall; a host of aunts and uncles; and a stepbrother, Burley Smith.

Leaving to cherish his memories two sisters, Geraldine Simmons and Mary Simmons Burnton; a step-sister, Redenna; brother, James E. Allen; step-brother, Earl Terry; sister in law, Mary Johnson Simmons; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in Oakland Cemetery, in Monticello, Arkansas.
