James Raymond Strickland, 75, of Monticello, AR, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022. He was born September 18, 1946, to Oland Raymond Strickland and Melba Jane Pounders Strickland. He worked for Ashcraft Logging as a cutting machine operator for many years. James was a member of Old Union Southern Baptist Church for 55 years where he was a deacon. James had a passion for his work, his church, and most of all his family. He had supper every night with his 91-year-old mother and visited about their day.
James is preceded in death by his father; his brother Bennie Strickland; and his nephew Kenneth Williams.
James is survived by his mother, Melba Strickland of Monticello; his children, Samantha Berry and husband Wade of Monticello, Shelia Brunt and husband James of Monticello, Selena Collier and husband Fred of Watertown, SD; stepchildren, Amy Beggs and husband Jimmy Dale of Pine Bluff, David White and wife Autumn of White Hall, Daniel Wood, and Samantha Pruitt; brother, Donald Strickland and wife Glenda of Monticello, Paula Pulliam and husband Dirk of Ft. Smith, Linda Strickland Mitchell of Monticello, Steve Strickland and wife Tina of Monticello; Grandchildren, Courtni Flemister (Brandon), Joshua Etheridge (Meredith), Morgan Marin (Oscar), Ryan Rogers (Megan), Christian Gipson (Beaux), Elise Collier, Larsen Collier; great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Emersyn Flemister, Gage Etheridge, Allen Etheridge, Carmin Marin, Suede Gipson, as well as a baby due in August; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 16, 2022, from 6:00 â€" 8:00 p.m. in the Stephenson- Dearman Chapel. Funeral Services will be Friday, June 17, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Old Union Southern Baptist Church in Monticello with Rev. Jason Cater officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Springs Cemetery.
