There is no way to sum up the life of a person in just a few paragraphs, but to share just a snippet of a person that was loved so deeply is indeed a blessing.
Stacy Hopper Groves lived a full and awesome life! She departed this earth at 10:31 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2023, surrounded by those who loved her, to go to her heavenly home. Stacy was born January 27, 1974, in Dyersburg, Tennessee. She was a graduate of the Monticello High School class of 1992 and attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello. She worked for the Dumas School District as the Computer Information Specialist. Stacy was a businesswoman, and owned and operated Comet Cleaners in Dumas, Arkansas.
Stacy was an active member of Pauline Baptist Church for 37 years. She was involved in Ladies Golf at the Monticello Country Club, and a member of a scrapbooking club affectionately known as the ''Panthers''. She loved to go to the beach with her friends and family, loved to cook and entertain, and was the life of the party! And a bonus with Stacy: she knew EVERY lyric of EVERY song and was not shy about singing them!! Stacy loved the Lord and was saved and baptized in 1986 by Brother Buddy Lemons at Pauline Baptist Church.
On October 11, 2008, Stacy married the love of her life, Harvey ''Bubba'' Groves of Clarksdale, Mississippi. They have been married 15 years. The most precious and important person in Stacy's life, and ALWAYS her top priority, was her daughter, Mary Richie. Each day of her life, Stacy and Bubba strived to surround Mary Richie with the people and tools that she needs to have a happy, successful life that the Lord has provided for her. Stacy gave her friend's specific instructions on how to be there for her daughter, and what she desired for them to do to help guide Mary Richie after she was gone.
Her parents, Charles ''Richie'' & Evelyn Hopper, who so affectionately called their daughter ''Sug'', were with her daily. There was nothing that she needed that they were not there to provide. Harvey and Janet Groves of Clarksdale, Mississippi were Stacy's in-laws. They thought of Stacy as the best daughter-in-law anyone could hope for, and truly loved Stacy. Stacey ''Tay Tay'' Davis was Stacy's best friend. She was there every day for Stacy in her 7-year battle and was there with her when she took her last breath on this earth. Barry, Stacey, and Becca Davis are family.
Stacy was a deep, loving, longtime friend to all who knew her, but she was especially blessed to have childhood friends for life; Dey Bolin, Amber King, Season Nichols, Mandy Henderson, Sarah Bulloch, Kami Griffin and Amy Becker. Rob and Melanie Wells, and Rick and 'Von' Shelton are members of Mary Richie's group text she named 'The Family' and are more than honored to be an extended part of the Groves family. Stacy cherished the moments with all her relatives in Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi.
Stacy is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, James David and Mary Evelyn Burns and her paternal grandparents, Walter Freeman and Billie Gertrude Hopper. What a blessing and a treat to be the recipient of a ''little happy'' from Stacy. She was a deep, caring and kind individual that we were blessed to know. She was a warrior in her fight against the disease she had â€" ''I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith'' â€" 2 Timothy verse 4:7.
We celebrate this life that touched every one of us today. We celebrate you, Stacy, and will hold you close in our hearts forever. The family would like to issue a special thank you to the following people; Bro. Rob Leonard, Bro. Larry Clements, David Leonard, Pauline Baptist Church, Dr. Mary Maluccio, Dr. John Boudreaux, Jenny Ricks, R.N., Sierra Vilmar, A.P.R.N., Holley Shelton, A.P.R.N., Jesse Bone, A.P.R.N., Main Line Health Staff and the Doctor's and Staff of UAMS Hospital in Little Rock.

Bubba, I’m sure you don’t remember me but I lived across the street from you and Stacey (on Jefferson) for a short time. We got together a couple of times.

I moved away from Monticello in 2009 and haven’t been back much. However, I came in to town this weekend and was showing my husband around and when we passed your house I told them how y’all were the best neighbors and that I hated that I didn’t keep in touch y’all. Then last night our host told me about Stacey.

I’m so sorry for your loss! I send prayers of comfort to you and all of your and Stacey’s family! ❤️
