Shirley Marlene Kemnitz Daugherty, age 86 of Monticello, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. She was born Jan. 2, 1937, in Pipestone, MN to the late Alvoid Danne Kemnitz and Gertrude Katherine Johanson.
She was a retired construction company bookkeeper member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Shirley loved to travel, go to Church and was an excellent cook where she was known for her carrot cake. She was also a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary; Chapter 10252, Mt. View, Alaska. Shirley was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond "Doc" Daugherty of Monticello; three children, Vickie, Randy and Rusty; nine grandchildren, Kathryn, Koreenia, Ricky, Levi, Kyle, Lance, Chaz, Shyam and Tyler; and eight great grandchildren, Austin, Meadow Lynn, Brooke, Drexel, Evelyn, Kayden, Christian and Mathias.

    I miss you terribly grandma. You raised me, loved me and accepted me no matter what. I'm devastated that I can't call you anymore. I know you aren't in pain anymore and that's the only thing that keeps me in balance.

Tear's of sadness at the loss of a loved one but so many tear's of happiness due to there being no more pain and suffering. Remember the good times and carry Shirley's memory with you from now on.

    Raymond, (my cousin) I am sorry to hear about Shirley. She was a sweetheart for sure. I know she loved the Lord with all her heart. You two were a great couple. We will miss her. I hate we don’t get to visit like we used to when I lived there. I am a phone call away. I love you Raymond. And I loved Shirley.
