She was a retired florist owner and caregiver. Dorothy was a member of the House of Refuge Baptist Church in Seattle, Washington where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was also a travel enthusiast and loved to read.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her youngest son, Mr. Chaun Marcellus Mitchell; and a sister, Mrs. Sheryl Colvin.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories her husband, William Bruce Jones of Wilmar, AR; her eldest son, Mr. James Eugene (Jimmy) Steward and wife Shawndray of Atlanta, GA; step-son, William Bruce Jones, Jr.; two step-daughters, Menekio Phillips (Derick) and Yakema Jones; granddaughters, Nia and Jayla Steward; brothers, Horace Mitchell, Jr. and wife Dorothy, Willie Mitchell and Dale Mitchell of Seattle, WA; sisters, Linda Mitchell of Seattle, WA and Evelyn Enigbokan and husband Tunde of Plano, TX; uncle, Bobby Mitchell of Seattle, WA; aunt, Linda Walker of Seattle, WA; step-grandson, Rashaad Phillips; step-granddaughter, Kalaya Jones; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a wake from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2023, at Shady Grove AME Church in Wilmar, AR. Funeral services will be held in Seattle, WA and will be announced at a later time. You can sign Dorothy's guestbook page on this website.
