Gary Stuart Ferguson was born January 12, 1982, in Monticello, Arkansas. He departed this life on March 1, 2025, in Monticello. Stuart was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, V.P. Ferguson and Mildred Burton Ferguson, of Memphis, Tennessee, his maternal grandfather, W.J. Cobb, of Eupora, Mississippi and his mother, Laura Cobb Ferguson, of Monticello. He is survived by his father Frank Ferguson, of Monticello, his brother, Adam Ferguson (Lisa Sheppard), of Malvern, Arkansas, his maternal grandmother, Marjorie Cobb, of Eupora, Mississippi, his beloved niece, Swayzee Ferguson, of Colfax, Louisiana, and very special friends, Zac and Sam Sheppard, of Malvern.

Stuart was a 2000 graduate of Drew Central High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He was self-employed and a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church of Monticello.

Besides mathematics, Stuart's greatest passion was gardening. He enjoyed growing exotic plants and was an expert in the cultivation and growing of peppers. He also had a passion for music of all kinds. His eclectic musical tastes ranged from ancient Gregorian Chants to symphonies, jazz, and hip hop. He was well-read and had a knack for remembering almost everything he read with great detail.
