Joyce M. Jackson Steen was born on October 21, 1933, in Baxter, Arkansas to the late Clarence and Nora Jackson. She departed this life July 21, 2025, at The Woods of Monticello Health and Rehabilitation in Monticello, Arkansas. The family moved from Baxter, Arkansas to Wilmar, Arkansas in the early 40's. She attended school in Wilmar. She professed her faith in Christ Jesus after attending Shady Grove A.M.E. Church where she became a member.

It was in Wilmar where Joyce met Curtis H. Allen, they were united in marriage and to the union five children were born. Curtisteen, Nancy, Carol, Bobby, and Marion. Curtis H. Allen preceded her in death in October of 1956. Joyce was left a widow at a young age. During the years that followed Joyce became the mother of three more children, Terry, Vicky Fay and Joyce Ann.

She worked at Bradley County Medical Center for thirty-eight years and was a faithful employee. On November 30, 2002, Joyce married Charlie Wilson at Great Shady Grove A.M.E. Church, after only six months of marriage he preceded her in death.

Joyce Mae Wilson was united in Holy wedlock to Lee Chester Steen on August 6, 2005. They were happily married for seventeen years. Chester preceded her in death January 17, 2022.

In addition to her three husbands, Joyce Mae Steen is preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, Jimmy, George, Wilbert, Charles, Joe Lee, Billy Ray Jackson, and A.D. Green; three sisters, Mary J., Martha J., and Erma Lewis; four children, Terry, Joyce Ann, Marion, and Carol; and one grandson, Christopher whom she raised.

Joyce leaves to cherish her precious memories, one son, Bobby Allen of North Chicago, IL; one stepson, Jasper (Shirley) Steen; three daughters, Curtisteen Stanley of Monticello, AR, Nancy Allen of Wilmar, AR, and Vicky (Alvin) Scott of Waukegan, IL; fifteen grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, August 1, 2025, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Shady Grove A.M.E. Church in Wilmar, Arkansas. Burial will be in Wilmar Turner Hill Cemetery in Wilmar, Arkansas. You can sign Mrs. Joyce's guestbook here on her page.
