I served in the armed forces.
John Franklin Connard, age 83 of Monticello, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025, at his home. He was born July 15, 1942, in Dermott, AR to the late Arvis Connard and Ilar Davis Connard.
He was a retired cabinet maker having worked in hundreds of homes in the Monticello/Drew County area. John was a very hard worker and was his happiest when working. He also enjoyed deer hunting, camping and gardening. He had a great sense of humor as he would tell his corny jokes, had a huge heart for others, especially his wife, and everyone that John met loved him. He was the best husband, son and son-in-law anyone could ask for. John was a United States Army National Guard Veteran and a member of Lacey Christian Community Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene; and two sisters, Maxine and Margaret.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nadine Chapman Connard of Monticello; numerous nieces and nephews; and one special nephew who was like a son, John David Chapman of Star City.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. You can sign John's guestbook registry here on his page.

  8. Rosie Chapman Hurt
Nadine, I cannot be with you; however, my heart aches for you as you begin this next journey in your life. Today I am praying for you to be comforted by your beautiful memories and the warmth of God’s love and His presence. My brother, Bert, told me when my Tommy died that I wouldn’t get “over” it, but I would get “used” to it. It has been 15 years now and I can tell you that I still love and miss Tommy but I am “used” to his absence. You and John had so many years and memories and my experience cannot compare to that. You and he were so blessed to have that time. I love you and wish I was in Arkansas to be there.
    Rosie

Nadine, James, and John David my heart hurts for you all. I'm proud to called John my friend. He taught me so many things. I know he is no longer suffering, and that gives me solace, but there will never be another like him. He told me so many stories about each of you, and always with a smile that showed how much he loved all of you. I will miss him.
