He was a retired construction worker, a United States Army and National Guard Veteran and attended the Cloverdale Assembly of God Church. Mr. Jessie was a devoted Christian who loved his church family and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He spent several years logging, driving trucks and working construction across the United States. Jessie enjoyed life and never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Harris Martin; two daughters, Carolyn Sue Estelle and Sheila Rochell; a son, Richard ''Dickie'' Tamminen; and a sister, Jeanette Lansdale.
Jessie is survived by his wife, Janice Herring Martin of Fountain Hill; one son, Kevin Martin and wife Trenia of Lacey; three daughters, Suzette Martin Phillips of Texas, Michelle Howell and husband Wade of Jefferson, AR and LouAnn McKinney and husband William of South Carolina; seventeen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; along with a host of others he called family, not just friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Cloverdale Assembly of God Church in Crossett with Pastor David Williams officiating. There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. preceding the funeral service at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Lacey Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Adams, Hunter Adams, Doug Bissell, Josh Smith, Brian Stanfill and Bart Measel.
