Bettye Sue ''Gigi'' Waters Kellum, age 89 of Monticello, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Belle View Nursing and Rehab in Monticello, AR. She was born February 9, 1936, in Star City, AR to the late Henry Hartwell Waters and Alta Lorene White Waters.

She was the widow of Leo Kellum, a retired seamstress, office clerk and homemaker and longtime member of Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Betty was a very active member/volunteer of the Daughter's of the American Revolution (DAR), Quilter's Extension Club, the Drew County Fair and the Monticello Senior Citizens Center. She also enjoyed reading, flower gardening, studying her family's genealogy and following the Arkansas Razorbacks but most of all, loved her Lord and Savior and her church. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Leon Waters; and one sister, Kathleen ''Kitty'' Watson

She is survived by her two children, Sherry Collins and husband Larry of Monticello and David Kellum and wife Kathy of Star City; one brother, Bill Waters of Albuquerque, NM; five grandchildren, Karen Collins, Kimberly Noesser and husband Josh, Laci Barnes and husband Grant, John David Kellum and wife Rachel and Karli Weast and husband Ozzy; and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Roper officiating. There will be a visitation Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. You can sign Mrs. Betty's guestbook registry here on her page.

    I was sorry to learn about Mrs. Betty. I got to know her a good many years ago when I did home health for her mother, Mrs. Alta Waters. Both were such sweet Christian ladies. I thought so much of her and know she will be missed. Prayers for comfort and peace for her family. May GOD bless each of you.

    We at the Monticello senior center are so heartbroken to hear about Mrs. Bettye Kellum she was a wonderful woman and friend she often would come down to the center and tell us about Monticello and its rich history. Mrs. Bettye was always helping the senior center with anything she was asked she has been apart the center for a long time, and we will miss her deeply.
