Early in his working life, Steve was a Registered X-Ray Technician before living his dream as a full-time farmer. He was a talented horseman and chicken farmer, but above all, he loved being in the cattle business. Steve was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a very proud Arkansan, having been at least the fourth generation to be born in Arkansas. He was a member of Rose Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over 60 years where he served as an Elder.
Steve's hobbies included hunting, fishing (not a catch and release fisherman), canoeing and camping on Lake Ouachita. He was an avid reader having read many hundreds of books in his lifetime. He was interested in many different subject matters, but most of all, History. Steve loved spending time with his friends and family, but mostly his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Angie Gentry of Monticello; two sons, Sean Cody Gentry and wife Lindsay of Houston, TX and Seth Adam Gentry and wife Eliana of Shrewsbury, MA; and four grandchildren, Kennedy, Wyatt, Weston and Harper Gentry.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Rose Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tim McDaniel officiating. There will be a visitation preceding the funeral service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Rose Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church. You can sign Steve's guestbook registry here on his page.
Serving as pallbearers are Robert Clement, Keith Clement, Grant Pace, Jeff Loveless, Scott Bellott, and Ed Schenk. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Aaron Ray, Jeremy Groves, Bob Loveless, Jackie Nowlen, and Robert Akin.
