He was a retired mechanic and was of the Baptist faith. John enjoyed dancing, singing, playing cards and dominos and spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Minnie Mae Jackson, Earnestine Clary, Sarah White and Lonzella Lambert; three brothers, Ernest Wesley Haynes, James David Haynes and Roy Lee Haynes; a son, Shannon Haynes; and two grandchildren, Ashunti McClinton and Cameron Haynes.
Survivors include one daughter, Lashawn McClinton of Monticello; two sons, John Haynes, Jr. and Brandon Haynes, Sr. both of Monticello; one brother, Bobby Haynes of North Carolina; two sisters, Linda Haynes of Little Rock and Betty Haynes of Milwaukee, WI; five grandchildren, Mario Hunter, Marshata Moore, Dessence McClinton, Janyah Haynes and Brandon Haynes, Jr.; nine great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to issue a special "thank you" to Hospice Home Care of Monticello, Dr. Michael Fakouri, Dr. Tim Simon, and caregiver Sharon Haynes.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Oakland Cemetery. There will be a visitation at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday preceding the graveside service. You can sign John's guestbook registry here on his page.
