Mary was christened as an infant. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at Pilgrim Rest African Methodist Episcopal Church and was a loyal member of the Mary E. Lee Women's Missionary Society (WMS). She also worked with the Young People Department (YPD).
She graduated at Monticello High School in 1987. While in school, Mary was in Madrigals, Vo-Tech, FBLA, FHA, and several other organizations.
Mary had sickle cell anemia and was a stay-at-home mother. She was a member of the Sickle Cell Anemia Support Group in Little Rock, Arkansas. She enjoyed cooking, doing crossword puzzles, watching her favorite television shows and coloring in the Black Coloring Book on her tablet. She like going to church and social events and spending quality time with family and friends.
Mary leaves to cherish her precious memory her son, Anthony Wells of Monticello, AR; a sister, Valerie (Donald) Richardson of Chicago, IL; a brother, Keith (Sammie) Wells of Monticello, AR; three nieces, Michelle and Ashley Richardson of Hazel Green, AL and Shabrae Polite of Monticello, AR; one nephew, Keith Wells, Jr. of Monticello, AR; one great niece, Kaydence Burks of Monticello, AR; two aunts, Dorris Wells of Monticello, AR and Arand Rebecca Cook of Detroit, MI; one uncle Charles Wilson of Monticello, AR; one special sister, Debra Cooper; one special brother and sister, Odell and Jewel Davis; two special cousins, Addison Grace Lavette Williams and Brooklyn Armanil Green. She also leaves a host of cousins and dear friends.
Mary's Celebration of Life will be Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest African Methodist Episcopal Church, 522 N. Bailey Street in Monticello, Arkansas. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Monticello. You can sign Mary's guestbook here on her page.
