She was born in Monticello, Arkansas, on February 16, 1958, and raised in the Presbyterian faith. After graduating from Monticello High School in 1976, she attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where she graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. She specialized in various marketing and administrative positions, but her main focus was always as a wife, mother, and homemaker. With the many relocations her husband's career demanded, she found that she could make a home anywhere. A few places they called home were Monticello, AR, Memphis, TN, Warren, PA, Springfield, IL, and LaCrosse, WI.
Leslie had a deep love for music, with a special passion for live concerts. Her energy was infectious, and her presence lit up every room she entered. She is remembered not only for her outgoing personality and love of life, but also for her unwavering positivity.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Roberts Pomeroy; mother, Barbara Logan Pomeroy; and husband of 41 years, Michael Churchill New. She is survived by her children, Anna New Cardwell, James Allen New and Molly Rosamond New; granddaughters, Sydney and Salem Cardwell; as well as her brother, Michael Logan Pomeroy, and wife Stacy Landfair Pomeroy.
A memorial will be held in Monticello, Arkansas, on October 25, 2025, at Stephenson Dearman Funeral Home at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) or to a charity of your choice.
