He was a retired electrical and cable lineman and United States Army Veteran. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle and taking care of his grandbabies.
He is survived by his children, James Monroe Dodson, III and wife Hillary of Monticello, Alicia Cherry of Colorado, Jacob Dodson of Monticello, Destiny Dodson of El Dorado, Jonathan Judkins of Monticello and Eric Newman and wife Rebecca of Monticello; his mother, Constance ''Connie'' Lee Miller Dodson of Monticello; siblings, Donald Dodson and Dennis Dodson both of Monticello, George Dodson and wife Ada of Mississippi, Della Davis and husband Darrell of Oklahoma, Susan Bates and husband Dennis of Florida; twenty-five grandchildren, Lindsey, James, Trystian, Justis, Kaylee, Melania, Laila, Knox, Finley, Abel Jr., Adrian, Conner, Juan, Taylynn, Briella, Violet, Ivy, Maverick, Bradley, Jessie, John, Annabella, Cherish, Scarlet and Miracle; two great grandchildren, Avalynn and Kaden; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
