Mr. Thompson was born in Camden, Arkansas, and resided most of his life in Monticello, Arkansas. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in engineering. He went on to serve as a resident civil engineer and dedicated more than 37 years to the Arkansas Highway Department. He was an active and faithful member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a devoted father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Sarah Culpepper and her husband, Jimmy, and Jennifer Elledge and her husband, Ryan. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brittany McCrory, Abigail Haycox, William Elledge, and James Elledge.
A private burial will be held at a later date.

Began first grade and graduated high school with Mike, and our professional lives brought us together when I was cost accountant for various highway projects in ARDOT district where Mike was District Engineer. He was a dear friend, and a pleasure to work with. My sincere condolences to the family.
