She was married to the love of her life, Sam Sloan for over 50 years. Betty was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello. She became a telephone operator and school teacher who touched many children''™s lives, but her first love was the Lord and playing the organ for many churches in McGehee even though she was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of McGehee.
Betty was blessed with a son, Chuck Sloan and daughter-in-law, Jodi Zeno Sloan of White Hall. She was also a wonderful grandmother to her two grandsons, Zach Sloan and wife Rachel of North Little Rock and Pierce Sloan and wife Taylor of Rogers. Her biggest joy at the end of her life was her great grandson, Ezekiel. When Ezekiel would visit her at the nursing home, she would light up like a Christmas tree.
Her sister Evon Crowder Hays Stallings was Betty''™s best friend. Their love for each other was like no other. She was always a wonderful aunt to Evon''™s children, Greg Hays and wife Pam and Chris Hays and wife Mae Margaret Jones Hays. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Crowder.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026, in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
