He was retired from Burlington Industries and SeaArk Marine and was of the Baptist faith. Don enjoyed watching television where wrestling and western movies were his favorite. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Dirk Simpson and Don L. ''Ace'' Simpson, II; and siblings, Downey Simpson and Geneva Copeland.
Survivors include two children, Donald Heith Simpson of Warren and Christy Hammock of Monticello; twelve grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
