Mary Elizabeth Hood Murphy, age 77 of Dermott, formerly of Wilmot, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Dermott City Nursing Home in Dermott. She was born June 26, 1937 in Batesville, Mississippi to the late Calvin C. Hood and Mary Louise Auston Hood.
She was the widow of James Clifford Murphy, a retired nurse and a member of Wilmot Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jeffery Allen Kelley; one brother, Larry Hood; and one sister, Linda Hood Sluppick. She was a foster grandparent at Wilmot and loved ministering to children and shut-ins.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Kelley and Toni Minchew both of Monticello; two brothers, Charles Hood of Texas and Edward Hood of Guntown, MS.
