She was the caregiver to her husband Dub for many years until his death in 1971. She worked for Burlington Industries for thirteen years until her retirement in 1985. She was a life-long member of Green Hill United Methodist Church where she taught the children’s Sunday School class for many years.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Derwood (Dub) McClain, one sister, Geneva Stephenson Piper, and five brothers, Jack, Olyn, Walter Jr., Winfred, and Thomas Stephenson.

"Kay and Phil; I have so many fond memories of our childhood years in Green Hill playing Tarzan on the bag swing. And so many of those memories include fun times with Uncle Dub and Aunt Fay Wright. I can't remember a time that she didn't have a smile on her face. Kenny talked about her feeding everyone. For me; after you moved to "town", every time I came to visit she had my favorite cheese and made me cheese toast. And I can still hear her laugh about the dead horse. She made everyone's life a little brighter and she will be greatly missed."

"Phil, I am sorry about the loss of your mom. She was a good neighbor in that little section of the world between Ross and North Main."
