James Edgar Simpson, age 68 of Monticello, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2016 at his home in Monticello. He was born January 2, 1948 in Drew County, AR to the late Hollander “Shorty” Simpson and Erler Mae Barnett Simpson Langston.
Mr. Simpson was a Christian, of the Pentecostal Faith and a member of The Family Worship Center in Warren. He was a retired farmer for Reinhart Farms. Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step-father Albert Langston; and one brother, Woody Simpson.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years Marjorie “Margie” Hill Simpson of Monticello; two sons, Samuel Hawkins and wife Deanna of Martin, TN and Steven Hawkins and wife Kim of Durant, OK; one daughter, Tina Palmer and husband Charles of Monticello; three brothers, Clyde Simpson, Melvin Simpson, Henry Simpson and wife Sheila all of Monticello; one sister, Ollie Simpson Carter of Monticello; twelve grandchildren, Tyler, Arayna, Jesse, Alexander, Devin, Steven, Kasidy, Brittney, Madilynn, Tonya, Dayton and Stephan; one great granddaughter, Alex; and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2016 at The Family Worship Center in Warren. Visitation will be Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
