"Lewis was one of those special gentlemen others should seek emulate. He had a grin and laughter that I will always remember. He took good care of Mrs. Maxwell, and was a faithful member and officer of Eureka Lodge No. 40, F&AM, for decades. The world will be a poorer place without his presence, but heaven will be much improved. My sincere condolences to the family."

"My prayers and thoughts are with Mr. Louis's family. I remember him from when he delivered bread to the Hickory House. I was just a kid but I remember him always laughing and smiling. Wow seems like all the icons of Monticello have went home."
