He was a former restaurant owner, a fireman in Louisiana, a member of the Louisiana National Guard and Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Sevin Michel of Monticello; one son, Brandon Michael Painter of Tennessee; one daughter, Brandi Marie Painter of Monticello.

"Laura, I am saddened to hear of Jesse's passing. He was a wonderful person and I enjoyed working with him at SeaArk Marine. He spoke of you often and with much respect. He was a true family oriented person. I have a cherished gift that he made and gave to me and it is displayed with pride in my home and think of him everytime I look at it, which is everyday.
