Constance Raye "Connie" Mullis, 88, of Monticello, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on November 4, 2026. She was born on June 24, 1938, in Washington, D.C.,  t0 Watson Horace and Elva Raye Inscoe and grew up in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Connie married Sammy Joe Mullis, Sr. on May 25, 1957, in Greenville, NC. They met in Maryland where Sammy was stationed in the Air Force and worked on Andrews Air Force base. They moved to Arkansas a few years later and lived in McGehee and Camden before moving to Monticello in January of 1965. They were married for 64 years.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Monticello and taught Sunday School. Connie devoted herself to her family but loved on people everywhere and never met a stranger. She worked with her husband Sammy at Mullis Insurance Agency on the square for many years with their daughter Tammy and granddaughter Kelly.

Connie enjoyed volunteering. She was a life member of the Monticello Junior Auxiliary where she held all major offices. She also served as president of the Drew County Historical Society. She was a member of P.E.O., International and the Drew County Chamber of Commerce. She was named 1990 Drew County Woman of the Year for her consistent involvement in activities to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Monticello and Drew County.

Connie painted and loved crafts of all kinds and often made her grandchildren matching outfits. She loved music and dancing, shopping, playing bridge, researching her family’s genealogy and playing golf. She loved all things Christmas and the giving of gifts. She completed all the research to make her daughter and granddaughters members of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution).

Survivors include two sons, Sam Mullis, Jr. (Donna) of Plano, TX and Jay Mullis of Fayetteville; one daughter, Tammy Mullis Knobloch (Charles) of Monticello; six grandchildren, Sarah Mullis Sundberg (Chris) of Dallas, TX, Megan Mullis Guirguis (Andrew) of Los Angeles, CA, Lauren Mullis, Mollie Mullis Murphy (Preston), and  Clay Mullis all of Fayetteville, and Kelly Knobloch of Monticello; one granddaughter in-law, Elyse Barton of Monticello; nine great-grandchildren, Virginia and Margaret Sundberg of Dallas, TX, William, Eleanor, and Gregory Guirguis of Los Angeles, CA, Roman and Frances Murphy of Fayetteville, and Winston and Wyatt Knobloch of Monticello, along with nephews and cousins who held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Sammy Joe Mullis, Sr.; her sister, Beverly Clark; her brother, Ronald Inscoe; and her beloved grandson, K.C. Knobloch. The family extends special gratitude to Karen McLain, Tonya Franklin, and the staff at Chapel Woods for their compassionate care and support during Connie’s final days.
