Asburn W. Simpson
September 7, 1920 - March 23, 2020

Asburn Walter Simpson was born September 7, 1920, in Drew County to the late Promber and Carrie Hale Simpson. He departed this life March 23, 2020, at Belleview Nursing Home in Monticello, AR.

He confessed a hope in Christ and joined Green Mount AME Church and remained a member until his health failed and he moved to Annswood Apartments in Monticello. He united with Kennedy Boulevard Church of Christ under the leadership of Pastor Charlie Vincent, Jr. and remained there until his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife for 55 years, Mrs. Nettie Jane Ridgell, and three of his 10 children, Walter David Simpson, Odenia Simpson Lucas, and Agnes Simpson Lucas.

He was a lover of music and loved to sing. He was a member of the Drew County Singing Convention. You could walk in the room and he would strike up a song and sing to everyone that came to visit him in the room.

He leaves to cherish his memories, three sons, Johnnie (Gwen) Simpson, Tommie (Mae) Simpson and Roy (Beverly) Simpson, all of Monticello, AR; four daughters, Linda Raye Simpson, Annette (Robert) Gardner, Clemy Lambert, all of Monticello, AR, and Gwen (Ronnie) McKenzie of Pine Bluff, AR; 35 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren, 29 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and a very special friend, Pastor Walter Carter Tucker of Georgia.

Private graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2020 at Green Mount Cemetery. Arrangements by Stephenson-Dearman. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
